Q. When are the 2008-2009 AmeriCorpsBenefits Health Plans available?

A. The 2008-2009 AmeriCorpsBenefits Health Plans are available as of September 1, 2008.

Q. Who can I cover under the AmeriCorpsBenefits Program?

A. You may cover all active, full-time Volunteers in an AmeriCorps Program under this benefit program.

Q. Can I cover my Volunteers' dependents under the AmeriCorpsBenefits Program?

A. No. There is no dependent coverage available under this benefit  program.

Q. How do I get coverage for my AmeriCorps Volunteers under
this program?

A. Getting coverage is easy.  Simply read and follow the instructions  provided in the Grantee Checklist located on the cover of the AmeriCorpsBenefits Brochure. Complete the Request for Group Insurance  form and return it to the AmeriCorpsBenefits Administrator. An e-mail will be sent to the designated program director providing access to the Volunteer data entry portion of the website where the program director can enter their Volunteers' personal information safely and securely.

Q. What information will I be asked to provide on the website when I enter my Volunteers' information?

A. You will be asked for the Volunteers' name, social security number, address, sex, date of birth and the date the Volunteer began their term of service. 

Q. When will coverage begin and end for my AmeriCorps Volunteers?

A. Coverage for your AmeriCorps Volunteers will begin on the first day
of the month following the date that the AmeriCorpsBenefits Administrator receives all of the information needed to process your Organization’s enrollment request. Coverage ends when your participation in the AmeriCorpsBenefits Program ends, or on August 31, 2009, whichever is earlier.

Q. What will I receive after I have enrolled my Volunteers?

A. You will receive an e-mail that includes the following Welcome Kit materials: temporary ID Cards and Plan Information Summaries for your covered Volunteers; administrative reference guides to help you with your program; your Organization's insurance policy information and Participation Agreement(s); directions on how to make additions or changes to your Volunteers’ data; and Claim Forms.
